A Moment with Momentum Instore
WILL THE ROYAL BABY DELIVER A SALES BOOM? by Tim Ellis
In a few weeks that exciting event that is just about the only thing that attracts as much attention as a Royal wedding will be happening – the birth of a Royal baby. But will this joyous occasion also be a sales driver like last year’s Jubilee and the previous year’s regal nuptials?
Absolutely. What last year’s events demonstrated is that the British public has a very healthy appetite for getting the bunting out and celebrating on a national level. This means that retailers and brands need to be right there with them to not only boost sales, but also build relationships with customers and be seen to be on the same wavelength.
Manufacturers and designers of Royal commemorative products, as well as brands and retailers in many sectors, have been anticipating the birth of Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge’s first child ever since they announced their engagement, so there is no shortage of merchandise for retailers to choose from. If their instore campaigns are not suitably celebratory however they may risk looking like killjoys.
GOING GREEN
Momentum Instore has supported Sainsbury’s in opening an environmentally friendly convenience store in Haslucks Green, Solihull.
Momentum Instore’s team of merchandisers spent nine days and a total of 500 hours carrying out ticket preparation, dressing and setting up systems within the new Sainsbury’s Local store to enable it to open on time. Rob Gleave, Managing Director at Momentum Instore, commented: “We have provided instore support to Sainsbury’s for over 13 years now and it was a privilege for us to have the opportunity to work on this important new local store. It is an exciting time for convenience retail and we are looking forward to playing an active role in helping Sainsbury’s to achieve its aims for its convenience offering over the coming year.”
