Showrooms Show off
In the age of Internet shopping retailers are doing everything they can to get customers through their doors. With more and more customers wanting to see items in the ‘flesh’ before they purchase – whether it be in store or online, many retailers are using the concept of showrooms to draw customers in.
Most showrooms are typically for larger more expensive goods, but brands with smaller, less lucrative items are turning this trend on its head and are remaking the concept of shopping by creating interactive, well designed spaces that in fact are,

The dictionary states a showroom is ‘a room in which goods, such as cars, are on display’. However these day’s showrooms are so much more and with retailers always pushing the boundaries we look at some recent examples.

showrooms. One store that has taken this idea to the next level is Virgin Media’s new centre in the Westfield Shopping Centre in Stratford. Virgin Media commissioned Resolution Interiors to bring their ‘Our House’ concept alive. The store has been transformed in to a house complete with a street, home and garden view, meaning customers who enter will, in effect, be taken to a whole new world. To create the house, the store was completely refitted with an artificial ceiling, complete with beams, installed with Velux windows that look out to an artificial blue sky. The decorative
fixtures and fittings were sourced by Resolution Interiors and include bespoke digitally printed wallpaper. The interiors were chosen to highlight a range of high profile media apps such as angry birds and facebook.
The house is designed to take consumers on a voyage of discovery to view and enjoy all that Virgin media can offer, from broadband to mobile phones. There is a specially designed floor lighting system to represent a cable broadband connection and a convergence bar showcasing up to the minute mobile handsets. This store offers
