WHAT’S NEW: YES LTD There’s lots new from YES for 2013
Your Embroidery Services Ltd is starting 2013 with new and improved products from world leading manufacturers SWF, DTG Digital and Trans Slam.
S
WF have long been associated with ground-breaking developments in the embroidery industry. They were the first, and only, manufacturer to develop a machine that
embroiders two different products and/or designs at the same time. They were the first to break the multi-head embroidery speed barrier increasing it to 1500spm and their new networking systems, SDMS II and NNS, are equally ground-breaking. SDMS II is a factory based system that not only networks the machines, for direct design downloads, but also offers extras such as automatic thread tensioning.
The software heart of the application calculates productivity and profit and loss and can also optimise workflow so could, for instance, advise which machine matches a particular job. The SDMS II hardware, the Control Box, allows for real-time information exchange between operator and production manager via voice and text messaging and video as well as changing the parameters of the machine when the next order is received on-line.
The system also remotely alerts the production manager to repetitive problems such as thread breaks allowing him to immediately allocate a technicians time.
NNS is even more stunning in that it links across the industry, not just the factory. For large embroiderers working with multi- nationals this means that the buyer, the embroiderer and the machine supplier can be linked for the very first time. Projects such as this demonstrate SWFʼs serious commitment to the industry. The SWF quality shows in all of their products whether the latest networking system or a humble single head sample machine.
Direct to garment printer manufacturers DTG Digital were keen to bridge the gap between the small order market and bulk production enabling large printers to see the same benefits as those serving the small order market - the ʻM Series Industrialʼ does just that.
Launched originally in 2012 the M2 broke the industry mould by “not” being developed from an Epson product as are most other machines.
It was designed for the specific purpose of direct to garment printing and so suffers none of the constraints seen on other machines. It has an expanded print area allowing two T shirts to be printed at the same time or, of course, a single large print up to 604mm x 420mm. Using the “World Patented” Mutoh iQ Interweave system for

delivering the ink it achieves high quality prints at lower resolutions.

It also controls the amount of ink used so, when combined with the faster low resolution printing and the double platen facility, adds up to the most productive and flexible direct to garment printer on the market.
he real key to building that cross-market bridge, though, is the addition of another industrial model, the “M4”. This offers continuous printing for large orders as well as an increased print area of up to 1.2 metres in length. Staying with printing, albeit of a different kind, 2013 will see YES Ltd launch Trans Slam transfer paper. Billed as ʻtransfer printing with a differenceʼ Trans Slam papers
offer not only the facility to print onto black, as well as white, T shirts but also the ability to print onto just about any surface expanding the printable product range to promotional items such as mugs, glassware and leather and plastic product. The OKI U-Print TST4 laser printer uses a white toner along with the standard CMY. When printing onto a dark surface the RIP software determines where the white toner is needed. A second paper is then used to aid the application to the garment or other product only bonding where it comes into contact with toner so no weeding is required. The fact that you can print onto a variety of surfaces and colours would be great but Trans Slam have taken it further by reducing the temperature required for the transfer to as low as 80C meaning a wider selection of heat sensitive products are available to print.
This also reduces running cost of the press. In fact the price question has first rate answers all the way through the process. The A4 printer package, including the RIP program, is sub £2,000.
BREAKING THE MOULD: The flexible and productive M2.
The paper is up to 40 per cent lower than other papers on the market so, if you already have a printer, just buy the paper. Both printer and paper are available in A4 and A3 with the larger format offering more cost-effective productivity. YES, 2013 certainly looks good.
