WHAT’S NEW: RESOLUTE DTG
Direct to garment printing is here here to stay!
DELIGHTED: Richard Allsop of Bang Tidy is thrilled with the flexibility that their two R-Jets offer.
A
s we head into 2013, the New Year brings in a new cycle of trade shows for those in the garment decoration business, beginning in February with Printwear & Promotion LIVE (February 24-26, NEC, Birmingham). These shows give garment decorators the opportunity to see all the available garment decoration methods together at one time. The New Year will see direct to garment printing at the forefront of these methods for the first time as people come to realise that direct to garment is very firmly here to stay. After initial scepticism about the achievable results and profits, as well as doubt about equipment reliability, direct to garment printing has earned its place alongside the more traditional methods of garment decoration. Resolute DTG Ltd has been
instrumental in ensuring direct to garment printing takes its rightful place. In the coming year, they will build on this success with the introduction of new models for direct to garment which will be launched at Printwear & Promotion LIVE 2013 and also direct to substrate printing. They will also be launching their new modular system that will bring cost benefits and production flexibility to those garment decorators that need more than one printing platen.
Based around the highly successful RJet 4, the system beats other
comparable systems on investment cost and flexibility. The modular nature of the R Jet 4 allows one rip to run multiple machines.
From a production point of view, this can mean four print engines printing the same image on each garment, or if your business is more skewed to the production of one-off images, four print engines printing up to four different images on each garment at the same time.
W Build as you grow
hen it comes to the investment cost, rather than having to pay out for the initial large investment needed for a multi-platen machine, each additional print engine can be added as time progresses, allowing you to build up your production suite as your business grows.
And because no rip is needed with each additional machine, second and subsequent machines cost less than the first.
So as well as the better flexibility in production and lower investment cost, there are also advantages when it comes to any downtime for maintenance. With a multi-platen machine if the machine is down, production is zero. With Resolute DTGʼs modular system if one print engine is down, the remaining units continue to print. This modular
system has already been installed in some of Resolute DTGʼs largest customers, with some customers having 8 or 10 units running, producing thousands of prints each day. One recent example is Bang Tidy Clothing in Sheffield (pictured above). They started in DTG a year ago with a
different system, recently they decided to re-invest in an R-Jet 4 modular system starting with two units.
The customer said: “The modular system from Resolute DTG gives us the confidence to know we can keep our production at the required level, even when we need to plan downtime for maintenance.
“The two R-Jets are configured
differently to allow for the best production rates, one with white ink, one without. This is not possible on a single engine multi platen printer.
“Costing the same as two other brands we looked at but with the added benefit of a pre treatment machine the Resolute DTG system won hands down. We intend to add a further two units early in 2013.”
With the first trade show of the season coming up soon, Resolute DTG will be bringing not only their new models to Printwear & Promotion LIVE 2013 but will be demonstrating the modular system to prove the benefits to garment decorators.
