The Community Development Department is located at 10 S. 5th St. and provides guidance and support for its citizens each year with a wide range of services associated with permitting, plan review, inspections, code enforcement, zoning, land use planning, fl ood plain, storm water, mapping, garage sales and much more. The Community Development
department
strives to promote public health, safety and welfare, and provide courteous, timely, and effi cient services to the public. The Community Development Department performs a variety of services intended to protect, maintain, and develop an attractive, safe, & healthy environment.
Including,
applying standards for new & existing construction, building setbacks, height of structures, lot size, and determination that the use of the property is correct. Agricultural, single- family, multi-family, offi ce, light retail-commercial, general commercial uses, and industrial uses are the primary categories reviewed for changes of use in occupancies or construction of new buildings, structures, and homes.

The Community Development department has implemented a proactive code enforcement program that has increased the level of compliance throughout the City with applicable health and municipal codes aimed at improving neighborhood safety and livability. Code enforcement issues include private sites in need of weed abatement, removal of abandoned vehicles and trash issues.

These GIS databases include, but are not limited to: wastewater collection system, water distribution system, storm water collection system, zoning, land use plan, city council wards, street centerlines, building footprints, and topography. The primary purpose of this
program is to provide decision and policy makers within the city information needed to effectively manage the city’s resources in a format that can be easily understood and visualized in a fashion that allows patterns and relationships to be discerned.
