educational opportunities available. The staff works cooperatively with the home and community to ensure that each child develops academically, socially, physically, and emotionally. Further, the Oklahoma Education Association rates the district as one of the top-paid districts in Oklahoma.
FACILITIES
The school facilities of Yukon Public Schools range from high
to superior in ratings. Yukon experienced rapid growth from the late 1960’s to the 1970’s making it diffi cult to provide quality facilities for the students. However, with the constant help of the community through bond issue passage, the school system has been able to build and maintain excellent facilities. Continuous upgrading of facilities is necessary to ensure excellent schools for each child presently enrolled and for the future generations.
Most facilities have been built within
the last 25 years. All are bright, well-lit, heated and air-conditioned buildings that provide children with a pleasant and safe learning environment. In depth planning has gone into each of the buildings to provide for the needs of the regular classroom and to provide adequate areas for special curricular needs.
The passage of a $92.4 million dollar
bond issue in March, 2008 by Yukon voters allowed Yukon Public Schools to build a state of the art high school complex. The $65 million complex including the high school, athletic

venues, and a wellness center opened the fall of 2011. The bond issue also provided technology updates at all sites, furniture and equipment, facility upgrades, transportation upgrades, and increased the safety and security of the staff and students through the installation of security equipment. Yukon voters are instrumental in the continuous updating of Yukon Public Schools facilities. With the need for more classrooms and full day Kindergarten implementation district wide, the bond issue enabled the district to think differently about the grade confi guration. Following a thorough study, the district realigned the grade confi guration to provide seven Pre-K- 3 early childhood schools, two 4th-5th grade centers, one middle school – 6th-8th, and a 9th-12th high school. This realignment has provided more opportunities for advanced curriculum at all levels, such as the STEM program at the 4th-5th grade centers.
