®
features
Zwick Roell says that its testXpert
®
has been enhanced by a range of new
features, which allow it to provide a uniform operating concept for all
applications.
The new testXpert
®
II touch interface provides interactive operation via a PC mounted directly
on the testing machine and adjustable for operator comfort. Zwick explains that navigation
optimised for touch-PCs combined with effi cient parameter input via an integrated alphanumeric
panel provide a signifi cant reduction in operator workload, particularly for simple tests.
To add to the touch-PC operation, testXpert
®
II features speech output which actively guides
the user through the test sequence. From the start of the test the operator receives all essential
information on the test sequence and is actively prompted to any required user actions, such as
‘attach extensometer’, and can also be informed of results determined online.
Zwick also highlights that operating the machine has been simplifi ed for many testXpert
®
II
functions, including generating reports in PDF format with one mouse-click, specimen and series-
specifi c default reports and fully pre-confi gured export interfaces for Word, Excel, ASCII data export
and long-term evaluations.
Another new feature is ‘material testing visualisation’, which enables a visual record of the test
arrangement used for a particular test to be stored via a photograph or video. These images and
videos are generated with one click of a button and are administered in their own layout, which is
integrated into the test program.
The new version enables videos from high-speed cameras (as well as from web cameras and
camcorders) to be integrated in testXpert
®
II and synchronised perfectly with the curve graphics.
testXpert
®
II also allows the connection of HBM MGC+, Spider and Quantum X measurement
amplifi ers. All channels are synchronised, with a data transfer rate of up to 2,000Hz, allowing data
from each channel (e.g. from strain gauges) to be read into.

Keeping it clean
In view of the growing importance of ‘technical cleanliness’ Arnold
Umformtechnik, working closely with the Fraunhofer Institute, has set
up Cleancon
®
- a cleanliness compliance procedure for fasteners.
Arnold explains that Cleancon
®
is a procedural system that can be used to implement the
cleanliness requirements of VDA 19 and ISO1623201. In close cooperation with the customer,
the system establishes a test procedure to determine the maximum values of a cleanliness
class for each component. Where necessary, Arnold makes its own fully equipped laboratory
test specifi cations available to the customer to do this.
