MIDEST receives
positive response
After three years of attending MIDEST Will Lowry fi nally had the privilege, thanks to there being no train
strikes, of taking the short and convenient train journey from Charles De Gaulle airport to the Parc des
Exposition where the 39th industrial subcontracting exhibition took place from the 17 – 20 November.
Once again situated in Hall 6 of the Paris-Nord Villepinte
Exhibition Centre, MIDEST’s exhibition space had clearly reduced from
last year, with both corners at the North entrance of the hall moved in.
Less exhibition space refl ected fewer exhibitors – the statistics
report a 3.6% reduction from 1,748 to 1,685 exhibitors. MIDEST
attributes this to a decrease in press stands and subsidiary exhibitors,
and suggests that the actual number of “core” exhibitors rose by 2.5%.
One area in which there was defi nitely a reduction in exhibitors
was the Industrial Fastener zone, which was signifi cantly smaller
than last year - only 23 companies exhibited, compared to 76
companies in 2008. Notably absentees included Böllhoff, Avdel,
Dresselhaus and Titanox.
As well as the reduction in exhibitors the Industrial Fastener zone
was moved from a 2008 prime location at the front of the South
entrance to the back corner towards the North entrance, making the
much reduced zone blend into those around it.
Despite the reduced scale those who did exhibit in the
zone were positive about the show. Pascal Frackowiak, project
development manager at French based Bonioni SA, a cold heading
specialist, commented: “We are very happy with the show. The
Industrial Fastener zone might be smaller, but the important thing is
that the visitors are still coming to the show and if our competitors “MIDEST 2009 is likely to go down in our history as our most
