EXHIBITIONS
Other prominent exhibitors in the Industrial Fastener zone situation in various industries. We had in excess of 42 encouraging
included Inoxdadi Srl, Profi l France, Borrelly Spring Washers and Beck leads at MIDEST from Belgium, Italy, France, Turkey, Portugal, Germany,
Crespel, amongst whom the general stance was that it had been a Holland, Gabon, Algeria, United Kingdom, India, Columbia, Pakistan, the
good show, with most stands making promising contacts. Czech Republic, Philippines, Tunisia and South Africa to name a few.”
As well as the Industrial Fastener zone there was also several
fastener related companies situated around the hall in the various
country pavilions that are a prominent part of MIDEST.
Countries represented by pavilions included the Czech Republic,
Spain, Poland, Morocco, Algeria, Romania, India, Turkey and the
“country of the year” Belgium. In total, foreign companies accounted
for 40% of total exhibitors at MIDEST, the largest percentage in the
exhibition’s history.
An example of a new foreign company was South African based
Daltron Engineering, which was part of the CBI (Centre for the
Promotion of Imports for developing countries) pavilion. Natalie
Bester, group executive sales for Daltron Engineering was happy with
how the show had gone.
“MIDEST has helped boost our positive outlook even further and Less upbeat about the event was Euro Fastener, which was
gave us an opportunity to showcase our cold formed products and situated in the Turkish pavilion. Kağan Tolluoğlu, general manager
engineering services with great success despite the diffi cult economic of Euro Fastener believed that, whilst the show was generally OK, it
wasn’t as busy as previous years. This was supported by a selection
of other fastener companies situated around the hall, who agreed
that there seemed to be fewer visitors.
Offi cial visitor numbers released by MIDEST, however, showed a
5.5% increase, with 39,710 visiting the show in 2009, compared to
37,640 in 2008. Included in the total fi gure was a 13% increase in
the number of foreign visitors, who were drawn from 78 countries
compared to 54 countries in 2008.
Overall, there was a positive response from exhibitors at MIDEST
with the majority pleased with the quantity, and quality, of visitors
they received. There was a reduction in the total exhibitors in the
Industrial Fastener zone. However, those who did exhibit were
positive and highlighted that less competition meant more potential
customers.
The encouraging response from exhibitors, combined with the
second consecutive rise in visitor numbers, appears to underline
MIDEST’s relevance for fastener companies, especially those who are
interested in the French market.
The 40th edition of MIDEST, which will take place from 2 – 5
November 2010, once again at the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition
Centre, will determine whether this year’s limited fastener presence,
simply refl ects current economic conditions or signals more
fundamental concerns about MIDEST.
