Cold liquid waterproofing solutions Following a noticeable increase in demand for cold applied liquid waterproofing solutions, Index Building Products has introduced three new roofing products to its portfolio of

membranes. Indecote 4000 is a single pack elastomeric high build liquid polyurethane coating system suitable for all types of flat and pitched roofs. Indecote 2000 is another moisture curing polyurethane roof waterproofing coating solution but this requires an undercoat of Index PU Primer before application to ensure full adhesion to the substrate. Indecryl is a single pack synthetic fibre reinforced acrylic coating which is ideal for emergency repairs to leaking roofs or routine maintenance of gutters.

FM approval Bauder undertook the FM testing programme on its two single ply membranes, FPO & PVC, and used its ability as a manufacturer of both insulation and bituminous waterproofing sheets to combine all of the required elements of the flat roofing system from one manufacturer. This means that Bauder are the only manufacturer to have a complete flat roof waterproofing system approved, rather than using component parts from different suppliers to piece together a solution. So from the self- adhesive bitumen vapour barrier or VB20 vapour control layer, with our high performance thermal insulation BauderPIR FA up to the synthetic waterproofing membrane in either FPO or PV.

Sarnafil has seen its system used time and again at the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich, with an extension to the campus’ Sportspark swimming and sports centre the latest in a long line of projects completed with its single ply membrane. Concealed by prominent parapet eaves, over 1,500m sq of Sarnafil’s S327-15EL membrane in Light Grey complete the roof extension. The extension comes hot on the heels of a series of campus accommodation construction projects also featuring Sarnafil single ply installed by Belmont, a contractor operating in the eastern region, based in Norwich. Inside the sleek silver exterior of this eye catching building, students study the sciences, blissfully unaware of the chemical technology involved in the Sika- Trocal roofing system that keeps the science block of Edinburgh Academy warm and dry. The 850m2

of Sika-Trocal Type S membrane, formulated to provide one

the easiest and quickest single ply roofing solutions available on the market, has proven performance and low project life cycle cost. Fortunately for the students, Sika-Trocal Licensed contractor Grainger Building Services Ltd appreciates the science of Sika-Trocal and how its techno-logy results in less time on site and the opportunity to move on to the next project.

Impressive weight loss A SPRA single-ply roofing membrane has helped the designers of a new multi-sports training facility in East London to create a lightweight, sustainable green roof within a tight local authority budget. The Memorial Recreation Ground in West Ham, designed by architects Saville Jones for Newham Borough Council, features a 500m2

green

roof which was deemed an essential requirement for planning consent on the basis of appearance and the attenuation of storm-water drainage. A green roof comprises a layer of living vegetation planted in a drainage medium on top of a continuous waterproof membrane. Click here to request literature
