Roofing Solutions From Alumasc Go From Strength To Strength AS DESIGNERS AND ARCHITECTS
CONTINUE TO PUSH THE BOUNDARIES OF CONTEMPORARY BUILDING DESIGN, ADVANCES IN WATERPROOFING TECHNOLOGY HAVE OPENED UP A NUMBER OF ROOFING SOLUTIONS THAT MAY HAVE PREVIOUSLY BEEN DISMISSED. MEMBRANE-PROTECTED FLAT, INVERTED AND SLOPING ROOF INSTALLATIONS HAVE BENEFITED FROM THESE DEVELOPMENTS AND ARE INCREASINGLY REGARDED AS VIABLE HIGH-PERFORMANCE ALTERNATIVES FOR A NEW GENERATION OF ROOFING PROJECTS.
M
arket leaders Alumasc Exterior Building Products, have been offering trusted roofing and waterproofing systems to the UK construction market for over 40 years. Alumasc’s range of Derbigum membranes has a proven track record for long-term reliability on flat roof and green roof applications with over 18 million square metres being installed in the UK alone. Developed for both the refurbishment and new build sectors, the Derbigum range offers unrivalled performance properties including flexibility, stronger reinforcement and ease of application. For aged or failing roof refurbishment, Derbigum is suitable for application over existing installations, eliminating the need to remove old material, showing consequent savings on time, labour and disposal costs. Derbigum waterproofing
systems are tried and tested solutions offering an economical, fast-track alternative to single- ply installations. The products have been extensively specified for many prestigious projects in both the UK and abroad, and represent total fitness for purpose and guaranteed longevity, as well as speed of installation via Alumasc accredited contractors.
In support of Alumasc’s commitment to sustainable building practice, Derbigum membranes are manufactured under the ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Standard and achieve the highest available fire ratings, to BS 476 Pt 3 (EN1187 Pt 4), which allow unrestricted use under the Building Regulations. In addition, they can be applied using Derbibond NT – a new innovation and world first in bituminous cold adhesive. Completely solvent-free and containing no volatile organic compounds (VOCs), Derbibond NT is based on natural, safe components mixed with mineral fillers and organic fibres. It is efficient, durable and easily applied with a spray-gun, to form an extra waterproof layer between the deck and the membrane.
The ecological credentials of the Derbigum range are further strengthened by the recent introduction of Derbibrite – a revolutionary energy saving ‘cool roof’ waterproofing membrane from the same family of membranes as the award winning Derbigum. The highly reflective, acrylic top coat helps reduce carbon emissions and the urban heat island effect around buildings to which it is applied. Derbibrite lowers the internal building temperatures and is formulated to allow direct bonding of Derbisolar photovoltaic panels.
