ROOFING 29

Alumasc’s Derbigum GC structural waterproofing membrane is another new addition, offering a robust, cost

effective solution to civil engineering projects such as podium decks, plazas and hard landscaping schemes. Derbigum GC is ideal for waterproofing inverted podium green roofs in new build applications and is able to cope with complex

waterproofing and water feature details.

For unrivalled durability

Air conditioning is seen as a

substantial contributor to excess energy consumption as climate change drives the need for cooler internal conditions and Derbibrite offers a cost-effective alternative to conventional roofing that will provide significant savings on cooling plant whilst reducing the building’s overall carbon footprint.

and fire resistance, Derbigum Black is a 4mm heavy duty membrane, dual reinforced with a high tensile polyester core and glass fibre

reinforced weathering surface which is resistant to UV radiation, providing a versatile and efficient alternative to built-up bituminous roofing. The system offers great flexibility in terms of application and installation, with a single standard specification for warm, cold and inverted roofs in any location. Derbigum Black can be installed very quickly using cold spray adhesive and torched or hot-air laps,

The Derbigum product range is underpinned by Alumasc’s outstanding technical support provision, including the recent launch of its new Derbigum Technical Literature and the on-going development of its comprehensive online resources.

although alternative flame-free lap-bonding with adhesive can be achieved in restricted areas.

For traditionalists, Derbigum can be effectively applied using the tried and tested torching technique and can also be mechanically fixed. The material has a high degree of pliability, allowing it to follow roof contours closely; a key consideration for cold-bonded systems, but its high inherent strength provides excellent resistance to mechanical damage. Derbigum’s alternative applications include its successful use as a tanking membrane, and it can be laid incorporating pre-fabricated cosmetic ‘ridges’ to replicate seamed metal roofing.
