A breath of fresh air for home energy bills Rotex has launched a revolutionary new heating system that promises to slash inflated energy bills for hundreds of thousands of UK homes, simply by using the air that surrounds us. Representing the next generation in heat pumps, the HPSU draws the inexhaustible natural heat from ambient air to provide a free energy source to warm the home. When combined with Rotex’s ultra-efficient solar product line up, it completes the ultimate solar heating system – converting up to 80% of solar energy into heat. With constantly changing home heating requirements and environmental conditions, the HPSU’s storage tank – the HybridCube – has been designed to intelligently adapt to meet demand.

Small changes for big energy-savings Honeywell recently launched its DT90 range of digital room thermostats which provide more accurate temperature control than traditional home thermostats and uniquely also match boiler firing to the load on the system. These are due to their TPI (Time Proportional and Integral) advanced energy saving control. Tests by TACMA (The Association of Controls Manufacturers) show that under a single cycle steady state test, energy savings can be as much as 10% compared with traditional room thermostats. In addition, the set point can be lowered without loss of comfort, providing extra savings.
