In addition to the expertise and guidance that Rockey provided, he also signed Miller up for a Blueprint for Success event (now called Guiding Practice Success, or GPS). The three-day seminar was a game changer for Miller, who quickly went from talking about her dream veterinary clinic to making a checklist of steps she needed to take. “A lot of details from that weekend helped us get jump started,” she said.
Being in the right place The series of seminars held at GPS covered everything she needed to know starting with finding a real estate agent, build-out costs, budgeting, design, flooring, sound and odor control, ordering equipment and technology, and getting the financing squared away. In addition, the event helped veterinarians get ahead of the game by covering social media and marketing topics in preparation for growing a new practice.
Finding the right time Miller returned form GPS inspired, informed and ready to move forward with her dream. She started by finding a commercial real estate professional who helped her find the perfect location for the practice, and that’s when things took off. Miller found the space in November 2014, signed a lease in December, and construction began in February 2015. By the end of April construction was complete and Liberty Pet Hospital opened its doors to the public in May
