Before they had a chance to dive into the opportunity of opening the practice together, they were placed at different hospital locations within the same corporation. For about a year they worked separately, but by chance, the two attended the same veterinary conference where they reconnected and reminisced about their time working together. “We realized how much we missed working with each other and the conversation went to figuring out how we could work together again,” said Scherr. “When we connected at the conference, everything sort of came together.”

After many late-night conversations and pots of coffee, Fletcher had a thorough understanding of what was important to the two doctors.

Knowledge is power Fletcher also understood that these doctors were treading in new territory. Neither had previous experience opening a veterinary hospital, so he knew it would be important to educate them on the process. The same classmate who introduced Scherr to Fletcher also recommended that she attend a practice ownership event hosted by Patterson. Fletcher also strongly encouraged Scherr to attend the event, knowing that practice ownership would be new to her. “I was pleased that Dr. Scherr attended a >>
