Annual meeting scheduled for Saturday, October 8th MEMBER BENEFITS
This year’s annual meeting will be Saturday, October 8th, at the Robson Performing Arts Center, 101 E. Stuart Roosa Dr., in Claremore (see map below). Registration begins at 9 a.m. and continues until 11 a.m. Members should bring the top portion of their electric bill with them for electronic registration. We will scan the barcode on the bill to register each member’s attendance and enter them in the prize drawings. This elimi- nates long lines to register. There will be free coffee and donuts available at 9 a.m. Registration gifts this year are a VVEC cap and measuring cups. A favorite with VVEC mem- bers, popular country singer Paul Bogart will take the stage
at 9 a.m. He will entertain the crowd until 10:45 a.m. Paul will be available after the meeting for members who want to visit with him or buy his CDs. A free light lunch of hot dogs with all the trimmings, chips and cold soft drinks will be served from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. At 11 a.m. the business session opens. VVEC trustees will con- duct the meeting until its con- clusion when the popular prize drawings begin. A large number of gifts will be awarded. Three members in each of the co-op’s nine districts will win a $50 credit to their electric bill. One lucky member will win the grand prize—a $500 credit to his or her monthly electric bill.

Chocolate Sheath Cake For the cake:
• 2 cups sifted flour • 2 cups granulated sugar • 3 or 4 tablespoons cocoa • 1 cup water • 1 stick margarine • 1/2 cup shortening • 1 teaspoon baking soda • 1/2 cup buttermilk • 2 eggs, slightly beaten • 1 teaspoon cinnamon, optional • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the icing:
• 3 or 4 tablespoons cocoa • 6 tablespoons milk • 1 stick margarine • 1 box powdered sugar • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract • 1/2 to 1 cup chopped pecans
Preheat the oven to 375°F. Combine the flour and sugar; set aside. Combine cocoa, wa- ter, margarine and shortening in saucepan. Bring to a rapid boil. Add to the flour mixture. Dis- solve baking soda in buttermilk; add with eggs, cinnamon and vanilla to batter. Mix well. Pour into greased and floured 11 x 16-inch pan. Bake for 20 min- utes. For the icing, bring cocoa, milk and margarine to a boil. Add sugar, vanilla and nuts; mix well. Spread on hot cake when removed from oven.
