Chicagoland Area Foundry Engineer:
Job description
An engineer with patternmaker or similar skill set for casting pattern layout with gating and risering design and corebox layout experience. This is the primary function of this position.
Secondary function is involvement in casting defect analysis and resolution in conjunction with other foundry personnel.
Must be able to read casting drawings raw and possibly machined.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Metallurgy or Science field with experience in manufacturing of non-ferrous castings. U.S. Citizenship required Primary language: English and prefer secondary Spanish Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, SolidWorks, Creo or other Solid modeling applications. Ability to work at all levels within the organization and to work within a diverse work environment.
Responsible to interact with manufacturing departments to develop an implement policies, procedures and objectives. Strong management skills required.
Exposure to ISO 9001 quality management systems.
Desired Skills and Experience • Interpreting drawings, solid models specifications • Creating and validating tooling/pattern layouts for sand molding of nonferrous castings • Work with pattern shop to develop tooling and gating • Estimating casting and mold weights in support of quotation development • Create process documentation and instructions as appropriate to support process
• Responsible for process documentation and instructions to support implementation in accordance with the The Quality Management System
• Identification of casting related defects and determining associated corrective actions • Resolving technical problems and communicating directly with customers when requested • Produce and manage material certifications as required • Maintain material certification records • Perform material analysis including chemical and mechanical testing as required
2nd Shift Molding Supervisor – 3:30PM/12:00 AM Job description
Supervisor to coordinate molders, no-bake molders and related personnel in the foundry. The Supervisor will have secondary function of insuring other employees are in their departments and working areas as required.
Must have managerial experience and be willing to follow and administer company disciplinary policies with employees if necessary.
Supervisor will initially train under the foundry manager as this position is for second shift.
Desired Skills and Experience • Previous foundry experience preferred. Manufacturing experience. • Managerial experience. • Troubleshooting ability with castings, molds and grinding. • U.S. citizenship required. • English and Spanish language preferred. • Strong communication skills both verbal and written. • Ability to work at all levels within the organization and work within a diverse environment. • Coordinate with employees on job instructions and oversee multiple departments.
