AFS NEWS Institute Certifi es Eight


More Instructors T e AFS Institute has recently certifi ed an additional eight instructors as part of its Certifi ed Instructor program. T ese individuals have signed on to support the Institute’s goal of providing high quality courses not just through its content, but through eff ective delivery, of which the instruc- tors are an integral part. T e AFS Institute appreciates their support, as well as that of their company. T e newly certifi ed instructors are Doug DeSmit, ASK

To become certifi ed, applicants must participate in Train-


the-Trainer coursework and teach at least one course mod- ule to demonstrate ability to implement skills taught. After certifi cation is granted, coaching and feedback is provided to all instructors regularly and then minimum evaluation scores are required at the end of each certifi cation cycle in order to continue teaching for the Institute. T is program is part of a $1 million investment in raising course content quality at the Institute. Eighteen individuals have now completed the Certifi ed Instructor program.


Metalcasters: Update Your Directory Listing to


Attract Buyers Metal Casting Design & Purchasing magazine, an AFS


publication, is encouraging metalcasters to update their free listing in the annual Casting Source Directory and online Metalcaster Directory. T is allows potential customers to fi nd companies to produce their cast components and even contact them with a request for quote. T e Casting Source Directory and online Metalcaster


Directory contains capability information on more than 2,000 metalcasters in North America and is used by an audience of nearly 25,000 casting buyers and design engineers. Metalcasters can create a new listing or update their current listing online at www.afsinc.org/ directoryupdate. T e site also provides a printable form that can be fi lled out and faxed to AFS at 847/824-7848. All new listings and updates must be received by March 31 to be included in the print publication.
