METALCASTING SUPPLIES

30-Ton Induction Holding Furnace

Ajax TOCCO Magnethermic Corp, Warren, Ohio, introduced a stationary channel induction furnace for holding and maintain- ing at temperature a bath of molten metal. The 30-ton Model “TEG” Stationary Zinc Holding Furnace is designed to improve capacity by holding molten metal poured from melting furnaces. Ajax Jet- Flow channel inductors operate at full rated power 24 hours a day throughout the life of the inductor. Uniform metal circulation creates uniform chemistry and temperature throughout the molten bath and im- proves overall temperature control. Decreasing temperature differential between the inductor and main hearth molten metal eliminates ther- mal cycling and hot spots, increases refractory life and lowers operating

and maintenance costs. Visit www.ajaxtocco.com for more information.

Electric Resistance Furnace for Aluminum

Te Model DC-950 electric resistance crucible-type aluminum melting furnace from Rayteq LLC, Healdsburg, Calif., has a melting rate of 1,000 lbs./hour and a capacity of more than two tons. It is designed for high volume structural and conventional diecasting, permanent mold and sand casting operations. Te Model DC-950 melts directly at the machine, meaning central melters, delivery ladles and holding furnaces are unnecessary. Te furnace’s 81-sq.-in. footprint occupies mini- mal floorspace. Rayteq’s digital/analog Furnace Director proportional power con- trols can improve temperature control, and a non-contact molten metal level sensor

paces either manual or mechanized ingot addition to blunt temperature spikes. Visit www.rayteq.com for more information.

Inorganic Binder System

ASK Chemicals, Hilden, Germany, announced the debut of Inotec TC 5000 and Inotec HS 3000, the latest developments in its inorganic binding technology. Te new products promise to improve shakeout and moisture stability of cores. Te Inotec binding tech- nology provides metalcasters with odorless core production and odor-reduced castings. Additionally, the binder system lowers cleaning required for machines and tools, which can improve productivity in metalcasting facilities. Inorganic binder systems also offer advantages that can result in stronger components. Inotec TC 5000 complements the positive qualities of the previous generation in regard to casting surfaces without pen- etration or sand adhesion defects. It also improves collapsibility properties in light metal casting, improves immediate strength levels and increases core storage life. Te system is 100% inorganic, leaves no residual condensate deposits in the tooling, and does not

cause smoke to form during the casting process. Visit www.ask-chemicals.com for more information.
