Eagle Group Opens Onsite Clinic Metalcaster Eagle Group, Mus-

kegon, Mich., has opened a medical clinic onsite in cooperation with two other local manufacturers. Eagle Group, Fleet Engineers and Port City Group intend the Muskegon Manufacturers Health and Wellness Clinics to improve employees’ health. “It was from another initiative that

we three manufacturing companies started,” said John Workman, co-owner, Eagle Group. “We were starting a ‘health insurance captive’ to invite smaller companies to become self- insured. What it has turned into is a ‘collaborative,’ where we three manu- facturers are moving toward a common health care plan along with a common wellness program.” T e three companies have existing

wellness programs. Eagle’s includes health risk assessments, biometric test- ing, several meetings annually with a health coach about health goals, healthy lifestyle classes and BMI testing. “T ose that voluntarily enroll in our

wellness program receive incentive dol- lars for participating,” said Workman. “We have found our self-insured health care costs have increased minimally. Our current cost per employee per month is the same as 2009. We would like to think our wellness program has some- thing to do with that.” Eagle Group also will use the clinic

for workplace injuries. “We look forward to providing our employees with convenient access to healthcare,” said Workman. “T e clinics, along with a 24/7 call service provided, will give our employees the appropriate care and advice to better manage their own health and that of their family. We do feel that it may also help control costs by identifying health issues at an early stage. Bottom line, it seems like the right thing to do.” T e Eagle Group clinic and a sec-

ond site near Fleet Engineers and Port City Group provide employees with free access to a wide range of medi- cal services. Both clinics are operated by ProMedico, a provider of clinic management services and product of Lighthouse Group Insurance, which has a branch in Muskegon.

T e clinics are not intended to

replace a patient’s primary care physician but to create a more all- encompassing system of healthcare. Both locations are staff ed with pro- fessional physician’s assistants, nurse practitioners and a medical director to provide oversight.
