AFS Metalcasting Congress: Bringing the Supply Chain Together

Held this year April 21-23 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio, the 119th Metalcasting Con- gress will feature exhibitors, events and technical sessions for metalcast- ers, their suppliers, and buyers and designers of castings. The foundation of this annual

conference consists of the tabletop exhibition and technical sessions. This year’s exhibit floor is full with vendors supplying materials, equip- ment and services to the metalcast- ing industry. The exhibit floor also includes Cast in North America, a section specifically dedicated to pro- vide casting buyers an opportunity to meet with potential new casting sources. The winners of the 2015 AFS/Metal Casting Design & Pur- chasing magazine Casting Competi- tion also will be on display in Cast in North America. The technical sessions will include


presentations on a wide variety of topics covering all metals and casting processes, environmental health and safety, melting, engineering, casting design, and marketing. Special in- teractive roundtable discussions have been planned April 21 that focus specifically on casting defects and solutions. In the roundtable events, audience members can participate via live polling via smartphone and ex- tended question and answer sessions.

Ohio is one of the largest manufacturing and metalcasting states, neighbored by many more manufacturing-heavy states, providing a good setting for the 119th Metalcasting Congress.

At the annual banquet, Richard Gundlach, senior metallurgical engineer, Element Materials Technology, Wixom, Mich., and David Weiss, vice president engineering/R&D, Eck Industries, Inc., Manitowoc, Wis., will be given the industry’s top honor—the AFS Gold Medal. In addition, attendees of the 119th


Metalcasting Congress will have free access to the Precision Machining Technology Show (PMTS) also being held April 21-23 at the Greater Co- lumbus Convention Center. Presented by the Precision Machined Products Association, and co-presented by Production Machining and Modern Machine Shop, PMTS is the preci- sion machining industry’s signature event, offering North America’s largest international gathering of precision


machining equipment, products and services. With more than 260 exhibi- tors on display to more than 5,000 attendees, PMTS is an international gathering of manufacturing profes- sionals who are moving the industry forward. Founded in 2001, the bien- nial event includes an exhibit hall, machining demonstrations, show floor knowledge centers and classroom style technical sessions. PMTS also offers attendees access to the Parts Cleaning Expo—a conference and exhibitor pa- vilion dedicated to industrial cleaning applications. Those interested in attending
