When Brocock unveiled its
Compato airgun a couple of years back, it not only
reinvigorated the brand but itwon
plenty of newfriends
too.And it’s still going strong.
No other airgun looks like it or performs like it, according to British airgun maker Brocock. Over the last few months,
since production started in earnest, this bullpup-style carbine has increasingly been the go-to rifle of choice for airgun enthusiasts all over the world. Brocock says that orders
for the Compato doubled in the first six months of its production, explaining that shooters love the handling of the airgun, which is extremely familiar because it is so similar to that of a conventional full- bore rifl e such as a Ruger. Nothing on the Compato

has been leſt to chance, from its hi-tech polymer stock to an all- metal, 10-shot magazine. It is extremely short at just
864 millimetres (34 inches) but retains a full-length 18in (457mm) barrel and a 150cc air tube – thanks to a clever design. This also means that the Compato is a full-power rifle with a .22 or .25 calibre doing 30ſt/lb of energy. Precharged from a dive cylinder or high-pressure pump, it is capable of delivering a shot capacity of 30 shots (high power) and 90 shots (at 12ſt/lb) per charge. There are three power
setings – low, medium and high
– a removable, self-indexing, 10- shot rotary magazine, synthetic ambidextrous stock and a slingshot hammer system. Other features include a two-
stage trigger, resetable safety catch and a full-length, built-in, fully baffled silencer with optional adaptor for a second- stage silencer. The Compat o weighs in at
2.7kg (5lb) and is available in .177, .22 or .25 calibres.
