big cruise ship almost seems incomplete these days without some kind of waterpark facility. Thankfully, Royal Caribbean's new Harmony of the Seas will not disappoint.

Five decks above a main courtyard of what is now the world's largest cruise ship, passengers can slide

out over the ocean. Launched in May, the mammoth new vessel features three waterslides from Polin. Together referred to as the Perfect Storm, Cyclone, Typhoon and Supercell slides are based on Polin's Aquatube and Space Hole product lines. All are produced using the Turkish manufacturer' Magic Shine resin transfer moulding technology for a “shiny on both sides' finish. Harmony of the Seas is also the first ship in Royal's fleet to feature a mini waterpark area for kids. The Splashaway Bay structure features sea creature water cannons, winding slides, a gigantic tipping bucket and a multiplatform jungle-gym. Polin worked with Italian project-management partner Myrtha Pools to oversee the special engineering and installation requirements for the project. Myrtha, incidentally, designed and installed two 50m pools recently for the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Sun City splash

Almost 25 years after introducing one of the first WhiteWater surf wave pools to South Africa, Sun City Resort has returned to the same manufacturer to supply two new attractions to its Valley Of Waves waterpark. Linked to the same 18m-tall (59ft) tower are a

Boomerango slide and, just opened, an AquaLoop complete with launch capsule. The tower is camouflaged in themed stone and rope to disguise the steel structure.. As Sun City guests climb the tower they can see the lush forest that surrounds the resort and also Valley of Waves' signature 6,500 sq m Roaring Lion surf wave pool. “The Boomerango slide has been extremely well received," notes Anton Steenkamp, development manager for Sun City

operator Sun International. “Now with the introduction of the Aqualoop we have an additional adventure that will have guests returning even more. The slides certainly proved very attractive at the Wild Waters Waterpark at the Wild Coast Sun, another of our family destination resorts." At Valley of Waves the new slides can be enjoyed both by Sun City Resort guests and those buying a day ticket to the

waterpark. Dogs in a waterpark?

Morey’s Piers, Wildwood, New Jersey, transforms into a doggie domain for three days next month (September 9 to 11) when pet lovers and their four-legged friends are invited to take part in a range of dog-friendly activities over the weekend. New for 2016 is the first ever Doggie Dash. Dog owners can choose to enter

their animals for either a 1 mile or 5km race on the beach. Participants will receive a complimentary event shirt, doggie bandana, dog tag, discounted tickets to Morey’s Piers for the weekend and access to an after-party. Dogs are also welcome to take part in “Putts for Mutts” at Morey's new Starlux mini golf course. The weekend culminates on Sunday, September 11, with the annual “Gone to the Dogs” pool party at Raging Waters

Water Park, where canines will have free rein to paddle along the river adventure, play in the fountain pool or fetch tennis balls in the activity pool. Water bowls and free dog treats will be stationed throughout the park during the popular event, which sells out each year.
