Italian engineering at full scale
Founded in 1992 near Verona, Maxa has grown from a family workshop into a major European HVAC manufacturer, producing domestic to 350kW industrial heat pumps from its Arcole headquarters, with products tested from polar winters to Saharan heat.
M
ade in Italy since 1992. With its headquarters and production based near Verona, Maxa is a leading manufacturer of heating and cooling systems,
domestic, commercial and industrial heat pumps and air conditioners. To this day, Maxa is a family-run business, now boasting a 15,000 m2
factory and a turnover in excess of
€200M, supplying to more than 35 countries worldwide. The Maxa factory in Arcole, Italy, serves as the main
corporate headquarters and primary manufacturing plant for Maxa Heating and Cooling, specialising in HVAC, air conditioning, and high-effi ciency inverter heat pumps. The facility operates under the parent group Advantix S.p.A From the smallest 6kW domestic heat pump to industrial units up to 350kW, 8 production lines and two climatic chambers guarantee high reliability and accuracy of performance. Maxa’s products have been tried and tested in the world’s most extreme climates, from the icy steppes of Lobaria to the dunes of the Sahara. The i-32V5 & i-HPV5H series are reversible air-to-water heat pumps utilising low-GWP R32 refrigerant. These systems provide winter heating, domestic hot water up to 58°C, and chilled water for summer cooling. In 2023, Maxa led in the development and production of an i-290 range of heat pumps, high-temperature monobloc inverter heat pumps operating on R290 propane gas. They generate fl ow temperatures up to 78°C, making them an ideal eco-friendly retrofi t for properties utilising traditional radiator networks. Output capacities range from 6 kW to 50 kW, off ering low GWP and high performance, even at outdoor temperatures as low as -20°C. The series has now been extended to 150kW. Completing the heat pump range are large-scale heavy- duty heating and cooling systems featuring scroll and screw compressors capable of scaling up to 350 kW to 2,000 kW via modular cascade management. In addition to the wide range of heat pumps, ESS was delighted to discover that Maxa was holding plentiful stocks of wall-mounted split and multi-split systems throughout the summer. Kevin Pacey, Managing Director of distributor ESS, said, “In a summer when most installers have been struggling to fi nd equipment as the main brands have run out of stock,

we were pleased to discover that our colleagues at Maxa had units ready to ship. Our customers also reported that the Maxa splits were of good quality. All the wall splits have built-in Wi-Fi. We expected this to be very much a temporary measure, but most of our customers have come back to us asking for more Maxa units.”
The Maxa Lys is a wall-mounted air conditioning series engineered for residential and commercial heating and cooling. Operating on eco-friendly R32 refrigerant gas, these units are available in both Monosplit (single indoor unit) and Multi-split confi gurations.
Available in indoor models spanning 2.6 kW to 5.8 kW with top-tier energy classes up to A+++ for heating and A++ for cooling.
The Lys range maintains standard heating and cooling
operations in extreme climates down to -15°C and up to +50°C outdoor temperatures. Maxa products are brought to the UK by Maxa Distribution UK, jointly owned by London-based distributor ESS and Energy Lab from Barnstaple. Both companies supply the full range of systems, supplying and supporting installers and are pleased to work with specifi ers and mechanical designers on commercial projects. The UK distributors off er technical support and have direct access to the factory, which ensures that technical questions can be quickly answered, whether at the design stage or after sales. Visits to the factory for sales or technical training or to witness testing are straightforward, as there are daily fl ights to Verona. Likewise, if the UK site support is unable to assist, technicians from the factory can reach the UK in a reasonably fast manner.
In addition to splits and multi-splits and a comprehensive
range of heat pumps, Maxa also off ers an extensive range of chilled water fan coils in a variety of styles and capacities, including small wall-mounted types, cassettes, chassis models and concealed fan coils up to 80kW. Additionally, the sleek and ultra-modern ‘Grimper’ line is just 12cm deep and especially popular for domestic applications. A full range of hydronic accessories, including buff er and domestic hot water tanks, can all be provided under the Maxa brand.
