Daikin Applied (UK) has introduced its Vertical DX air handling unit, a fl oor-standing, plug-and-play solution designed to deliver effi cient ventilation and precise temperature control in large commercial and industrial environments. Developed for applications such as logistics hubs, distribution centres, sports halls and multi-use venues, the unit addresses common challenges including high air volumes, variable occupancy and uneven air distribution. The Vertical DX unit applies a decentralised strategy, delivering air treatment closer to occupied zones. This improves responsiveness, reduces system losses and enables more accurate control of indoor air quality (IAQ) and temperature. The fl oor-mounted design enables

installation with minimal disruption, making it well-suited to refurbishment projects and space-constrained environments. Key features include:

■Plug-and-play confi guration with factory-installed DX kit ■Reduced or no ductwork requirement ■Multiple discharge options (front, side, top) ■Left- or right-hand connection fl exibility This approach reduces installation time, cost and complexity

compared with traditional centralised systems. The system uses direct expansion (DX) technology, allowing

refrigerant to circulate directly within the unit and eliminating the need for a secondary water circuit. When integrated with Daikin VRV or ERA systems, this enables:

■Reduced energy losses ■Lower system footprint ■Effi cient part-load performance The unit supports advanced control strategies, including Daikin

Z Control for multi-unit confi gurations, and can be integrated into building management systems (BMS) for centralised monitoring and control.

Compatible with low-GWP refrigerants such as R-32, the Vertical

DX unit supports decarbonisation objectives while enabling effi cient upgrades without major infrastructure changes.

Daikin Rental Solutions has expanded its UK rental fl eet, combining new high-capacity cooling systems, low-carbon heating solutions, process cooling equipment, and UK-manufactured air handling units to meet growing demand for fl exible, high- performance temporary HVAC. The company off ers access to the latest generation of factory-built systems, designed for effi ciency, reliability, and seamless integration. This approach enables customers to deploy modern HVAC solutions quickly, with performance and control aligned to permanent installations. All projects are delivered as fully managed packages, including system design, installation, commissioning, and ongoing support, ensuring minimal disruption and consistent operational performance. Daikin has signifi cantly expanded its high-capacity cooling capability with the introduction of 800kW and 1MW inverter- driven screw chillers, alongside a broader range of scroll heat pumps from 50kW to 500kW. These systems provide scalable, effi cient cooling and heating for complex and high-load applications.

Complementing this, the addition of 250kW and 500kW Dry Air Coolers strengthens Daikin’s ability to deliver complete process cooling solutions. These units provide effi cient heat rejection for closed-loop systems and can support free cooling strategies in suitable ambient conditions, reducing reliance on mechanical cooling and improving overall energy performance. The expansion of Daikin’s heat pump rental off ering enables customers to deploy low-carbon heating solutions for both planned upgrades and interim requirements.  www.daikinrentalsolutions.uk
