Measures for controlling dust and general pollution from site construction operations, and include details of any monitoring scheme, if appropriate.

7.2 84 Control Measures

The level of risk for potential dust impacts differs depending on the stage of construction i.e. demolition, earthworks, construction or trackout. Appropriate mitigation measures, as outlined in best practice guidance produced by the GLA and London Councils, are anticipated to include:

Appropriate mitigation measures, for the level of risk for potential dust impacts Site Planning

Construction Traffic Site Activities

Effective barriers would be erected around dusty activities or the site boundary

No bonfires would be allowed on site

Machinery and dust- generating activities would be located away from sensitive receptors

No vehicles would be allowed to idle on site

Speed limit on un-surfaced roads to minimise potential for dust generation

Vehicles leaving site would be washed if necessary

All loads entering and leaving site would be covered

Runoff of mud and water would be prevented Monitoring of mud on road with road sweeping and brushing as required

All non-road mobile machinery would use ultra low sulphur diesel where available

Temporary cover or re- vegetate earthworks if possible Wetting/dampening of dust generating stockpiles

Skips would be covered and drop heights minimised

Cutting equipment would have water suppression or suitable local exhaust ventilation systems

Dust-generating activities would be minimised Stockpiles would be kept in place for the shortest possible time

Table 2: Appropriate mitigation measures, for the level of risk for potential dust impacts 85

The traffic effects of the proposed development during the construction phase would be temporary and would be along traffic routes employed by haulage/construction vehicles and workers.

7.3 Monitoring 86

Water would be used as a dust suppressant as appropriate

The mitigation measures described above will be monitored by the Contractor‟s environmental management representative and ECW throughout the construction phase as set out in the EMP. If non-conformity with any of the mitigation measures is
