GLOSSARY AND EXPLANATION OF TERMS Consultation Report

A report which will be submitted alongside the DCO application for the project which explains how we have consulted statutory and non- statutory consultees and local communities and how we have taken their comments on board in the eventual design of the project

Collector Station

Collector stations will sit within the windfarm area, and comprise electrical infrastructure, connected to a fixed foundation. The wind turbines will be connected to the collector stations via AC inter-array cables. The collector stations increase the voltage, and will connect to converter stations via HVAC inter-array cables.

Converter Station (Offshore) Converter Stations will sit within the windfarm, and house the electrical infrastructure required to convert the voltage from HVAC to HVDC, to minimise energy loss during transmission. These receive voltage from the collector station and transmit to the onshore converter station via export cables. The converter stations are connected to a fixed foundation.

Converter Station (Onshore)

The East Anglia THREE onshore converter station will be located at Bramford, Suffolk and will convert voltage received from the windfarm (via the export cable) from HVDC to HVAC to connect to the National Grid.

DCO

Development Consent Order. This is the document which will be applied for by East Anglia THREE Limited from the Planning Inspectorate, which includes planning permission, as well as all other consents required to construct the project.

Environmental Impact Assessment. This identifies and assesses likely effects from the construction, operation and decommissioning of the project. An EIA is required by the planning regulations for projects of the scale of East Anglia THREE.

ES

Environmental Statement. The outputs of the EIA are compiled in an Environmental Statement. The ES includes a description of the existing environment, the impacts of the project, and impact mitigation.
