Travel Perspective introduced the first social media seminars at WTM back in 2011. Returning for their fifth year, they organised three key sessions on Day Two of WTM London and here we are pleased to share the highlights.


DESTINATION 2020 When: 14:15-15:15


This session looked at how various destinations that have innovated in social media and digital planning can move on to the next level. Watch the video here


WORKING WITH BRANDS IN A DIGITAL WORLD When: 15:30-16:30


How destinations can work with partners in other sectors such as fashion, celebrity and film and leverage those partnerships on social media and in digital to attract more tourists was discussed during this session along with how brands, both travel and non-travel, are increasingly using bloggers in their advertising campaigns.


THE BEST SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGNS OF 2015 When: 16:45-17:45 This session invited three DMOs, three travel suppliers and three bloggers to pitch their campaigns to an expert panel to see who has been the most innovative. Watch the video here


WTM & Traverse Blogging


Travel blogging is evolving and thriving and leading industry organisation Traverse reflects that ethos “of doing events that are beneficial to, and don’t take advantage of, bloggers”. At WTM London 2015 two seminars were hosted by Traverse and here we present the findings.


HOW CONTENT STRATEGY CAN HELP YOU TELL CREDIBLE STORIES OUTSIDE YOUR NICHE/ INDUSTRY VERTICAL When: 10:30-11:30 Using real-life case studies from brands including vehicle hire provider Hertz, this session provided insight and top tips on developing a content strategy that helps improve your story-telling and increase your reach to a wider and more engaged audience. SIX NEW TRENDS THAT WILL CHANGE THE WORLD When: 12:00-13:00 Three industry experts presented two trends each which looked at the future of marketing and communications, highlighting changes needed now to future-proof plans. A quick Q&A followed


the session and a vote was taken to see which one of the six trends visitors thought would have the most impact over the next few years. And the winner was… Video is going to become the king of content! Watch the video here
