WTM World Travel Leaders Asia – Inbound and Outbound Travel – Growing Globally
Influential movers and shakers in the travel industry debated key issues at this year’s show and two key World Travel Leaders sessions were held to allow high-level discussion. The first session, entitled ‘Asia – Inbound and Outbound Travel – Growing Globally’, sponsored by Korean Tourism Organisation, looked at the new Asian powerhouses of the international leisure travel market. Held in the Global Stage area and moderated by global strategic advisor Anita Mendiratta – Founder and Managing Director at Cachet Consulting – the experts from high achieving companies and organisations that have been at the forefront of the inbound and outbound markets in the Asia region
discussed crucial issues driving this growth, where this growth is coming from now and in the future, and what destinations and passenger suppliers need to do to benefit even more. Thanks must go to panelists Tran Trong Kien, Chairman and General Director, Thien Minh Group (Buffalo Tours); Mario Hardy, Chief Executive, Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA); Peter Kerkar, Group Chief Executive, Cox & Kings; and Wendy Wu, Founder and Chief Executive, Wendy Wu Tours.
WTM WORLD TRAVEL LEADERS’ AWARDS After the first World Travel Leaders session, the WTM World Travel Leaders’
Awards were presented to the 12 winners to a packed audience. The awards recognise those individuals and organisations that have contributed the most to the global travel and tourism industry over the lifetime of WTM. They give WTM’s Official Media Partners – which represent key travel industry media around the world – an excellent platform to congratulate and recognise those companies and individuals that have made significant contributions to travel and tourism in their region or sector. Nominations from each of WTM’s media partners were judged in September by a panel of three, consisting of an independent body, a representative of WTM and the relevant media partner.
