34 GAS DETECTION

BM 25 & BM 25 Wireless : 10 years of improved safety

With more than 14,000 units on the field, Teledyne Gas & Flame Detection’s BM 25 is a proven in use, highly durable unit resistant to harsh environments. It was designed to detect one to five gases for mobile or temporary work applications, team protection, area surveillance, or places where fixed detection systems are not suitable.

The BM 25 packs the benefits of a fixed system area monitor into a rugged, user-friendly and transportable instrument.

Powered by a NiMH battery pack, the BM 25W offers up to 135 hours of continuous run time. Standard features include STEL and TWA values and data logging. An intrinsically safe trickle charger is also available for long-term area monitoring in classified zones.

Available as an option, the radio communication allows several BM 25 devices to communicate on the same network or to send information wirelessly to a controller.

If a BM 25 does not respond or if the network is split, then it is possible to continue working by the time the network is restored. All safety functions remain effective and, when the obstacle is removed, the communication resumes automatically.

The BM 25 is durable and versatile. It is suitable for a wide range of industries including refineries and pharmaceutical production. With a range of 31 gases that can be detected, the BM 25 is the perfect solution for many applications such as turnaround work sites, rig overhauls and fence-line surveillance

Teledyne Gas & Flame Detection’s MultiTox DGi-TT7-E is an intelligent gas detector utilising a range of different types of sensor. This detector has been designed to make operation and maintenance simple. The DGi -TT7-E is made from a common housing and electronics with the detection capabilities being determined which sensor, or cartridge is used. A comprehensive assortment of cells are available which are intrinsically safe protected and can be replaced while the detector is in operation, thus minimising system down time. These intelligent, microprocessor driven units are fully configurable when using a wireless hand-held terminal (TLU) or use of the hard wired HART option which offers total flexibility for installation as well as lower service costs. Relay operation and alarm levels are all set through the TLU which is a hazardous area approved hand-held unit. The unit may be interfaced directly with a wide range of panels, controllers and PLC’s etc. Its integral daylight readable alphanumeric display indicates local status and alarm level. Due to the hot swat field cabling technology, sensors can be swapped in a hazardous area without the need for area declassification. The detector features optional HART Protocol 7th edition output thus enabling full configuration and diagnostics over non-proprietary interface.

Since March 2019 Teledyne Gas & Flame Detection’s most popular portable multi-gas detector, the PS200 features some impressive product enhancements. One such improvement is as a powerful new datalogging capacity that will enable customers to capture all relevant calibration data within a 6-month period. This increased capacity will improve customers access to relevant data over a longer time period whilst enabling quicker decisions to be made.

Another helpful addition is the new quick-press field calibration mode which will save customers time by simplifying the field calibration process. Customers will also be able to visualise STEL / LTEL readings on-screen and log these in our software package to improve compliance monitoring.

Lastly, we have added a bundle of user experience upgrades including a quick information press when off; configurable confidence beeps; and increased user control around calibration due dates, dead-band configurations, and resolution settings (H2S). These features combined will enhance performance; improve ease-of use; and importantly enrich the overall user experience.

The PS200 forms part of Teledyne Gas & Flame Detection industrial portables portfolio which includes a range of gas detectors designed to keep workers safe in challenging environments. Other industrial portable products include the Protégé ZM (Zero Maintenance) a single-gas disposable and reusable solution, and the popular PS500, an up-to-5 gas monitor for more exotic environments and applications.

First triple IR flame detector with safety integrity level SIL3 certification

For More Info, email: email:

Among Teledyne Gas & Flame Detection’s wide range of equipment is the MultiFlame series DF-TV7-T. The instrument is the first triple IR flame detector on the market certified up to safety integrity level SIL3, the device is in compliance with IEC 61508:1-7 and abides by stringent functional safety assessments.

The MultiFlame DF-TV7-T series flame detector provides fast and accurate detection of hydrocarbon fires while ensuring reliable false alarm immunity. Based on a multi-infrared spectrum (3IR) technology, the detector provides one of the longest distance-to-detection ranges on the market (260 ft for n-Heptane). In addition, the 3IR detectors are highly sensitive to fire, and ideal for use in dirty environments and for smoky fires.

Also available in the MultiFlame product line is the DF-TV7-V, a UV/2IR version certified for use in SIL2 applications. The MultiFlame DF-TV7-V uses combined ultraviolet/infrared optical technology that provides industry-leading immunity to false alarms based on the two IR channel design. Both solutions lead to a very efficient false alarm rejection while keeping optimum sensitivity to fire.

All MultiFlame detectors are equipped with a continuous optical lens auto-check to ensure that the optical path is clear and that the detector functions properly. Sensors can be replaced easily in the field without removing any cable glands.

Each detector is constructed with a stainless steel (316L) explosion-proof housing containing a set of tropicalised electronic cards. A display and infrared communication electronic card allows the communication with the remote control (TLU600). The sensor cartridge contains the flame detection circuitry. Therefore, it is possible to change the cartridge easily. The multispectrum IR detector is also available in a high sensitivity version. An IR communication head is located below the detector housing. It is used for communication with the maintenance hand-held terminal (TLU). A metallic support cable (optional) connects the wall mounting support and the housing, making the maintenance easier.
