Christmas fun in the 19th ho ho hole
ONCE AGAIN SANTA CLAUS FOLLOWED IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE MANY LEGENDARY FIGURES WHO HAVE GRACED THE ROYAL LIVERPOOL CLUBHOUSE WITH THEIR PRESENCE.
His 2016 gathering appearance of delighted expectant a members’
children, and not since Rory McIlroy took a selfie with the Claret Jug in the downstairs hall in 2014 has there been similar excitement. The Club would like to thank Max
McCormick for arranging the visit and for drawing the map which explained to Santa the route he should take to Hoylake from the North Pole. It will come as no surprise to many
that the sleigh’s erratic journey included it
landing bounds. Painful reminder
Last year saw the introduction of a new scheme to welcome visitors to Hoylake with giveaway goodies on the first tee. Presented from a handsome wooden box that was most certainly not originally mass produced to contain tea bags, these wondrous gifts include branded tee pegs, ball markers and pitchmark repairers. Treasures of this kind, of course, do not come cheap, and are strictly for
visitors only, a policy which Starters Jim McVey and Neil Alveston have been asked to enforce. I am pleased to report to the membership that both men are doing a fine job, though there is a possibility Neil can be a little overzealous.
