One issue, he says, is that it can be tough fi nding new traders
who meet Bath Farmers’ Market regulations. T ey refuse to allow traders who buy in their produce: the focus is on producers selling their own goods directly to local people. Bath Farmers’ Market features seasonal vegetables, meat, fi sh,
bread and pastries, cheeses, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, oils, cakes, chocolates, honey and plenty more. It’s a great way to get to know the people who produce what you consume – and it’s a sociable occasion where you can chat to the traders about their wares too.

WHAT EXACTLY IS A FARMERS’ MARKET? Talk to FARMA, and they’ll tell you that there are three key things to look out for:
❤ You should fi nd real life farmers trading at the market. ❤ If the product is not a farm product you should meet with the producer; this could be the baker, cook, curer or jam maker and they should source their ingredients as close to your market as possible.
❤ The farmers and producers should come from your area; they should be part of your community where possible. Sometimes they may come from farther afi eld but only if they can't get the products from a local producer.
