Late winner sends Hakin top 1 2

HAKIN UNITED boosted

their chances of regaining the Pembrokeshire League Division 1 title after they beat current Champions Goodwick United 2-1 on Saturday (Jan 21). The win is Hakin’s 11th from 11

games and sees them move back to the top of the Division 1 table. Goodwick started well and came

close to taking the lead, with Adam Raymond and Jonny Horgan both going close. Hakin also had a chance at the

other end when Adam John fired Nicky Woodrows’s cross over the bar. The Vikings were then reduced

to 10 men when Daniel Armstrong received two yellow cards within a couple of minutes. Goodwick failed to make the man

Goodwick to settle on the ball. John was causing Goodwick

problems and he gave Hakin the lead when he latched onto a long clearance and fired the ball past Casey Walters into the far corner of the net. Goodwick were given a lifeline

with 10 minutes left when Nathan Banner, who was outstanding in the centre of defence, was adjudged to have brought down Horgan. Raymond hammered the ball past James Manson to bring the scores level. Walters then made a reflex save

from a Woodrow header as Hakin pushed for a winning goal. Goodwick also came close to

scoring the winner but Manson then made a fine save from Ben John’s header. With the game entering injury

time, Hakin scored the winner when Woodrow passed to John inside the box and his shot deflected off Stefan Hayes into the net. On Saturday (Jan 28), Hakin are at
