max/min (Day) A MILFORD HAVEN youth
given a suspended sentence for street robbery has been jailed anyway after he attacked a man he saw with his former girlfriend. Joshua Oughton, aged 19, of
Prescelly Place, had sentenced to jail for 24 months, suspended for 12 months, for using violence on a 15-year-old youth and forcing him to empty his pockets. Swansea Crown Court heard on
Thursday (Jan 26) that on October 8, Oughton was in the town’s Basement bar when he saw David Robertson in 'a clinch' with his old girlfriend, Jessica Cullen. CCTV cameras filmed Oughton as
he stormed across the bar and hit Mr Robertson several times with a beer bottle and, in the melee, also hit Miss Cullen. Oughton admitted two offences of common assault.
He also admitted breaching the terms of the suspended sentence. James Hartson, prosecuting, said

that, fortunately, the bottle had not smashed. Mr Hartson said Oughton had been
ordered to carry out 240 hours of unpaid work as part of his original punishment, but he had completed only seven hours and 45 minutes. And he had missed four
appointments with the probation service without acceptable reasons. Janet Gedrych, the barrister
representing Oughton, said he had been badly affected by the death of his father but realised that on the eve of his 20th birthday it was time for him to grow up. Judge Peter Heywood said
Oughton had been fortunate to receive a suspended sentence previously. But, he added, the Crown Court rarely gave second chances. Judge Heywood activated 12

of Milford Haven's Business Circle (MHBC), has quit due to a 'lack of progress' in the town's regeneration. Mr Jenkins took over the position of chairman in 2015. On Wednesday (Jan 25), he
informed members of his decision, saying: "In the last six months, I have seen MHBC and other groups I sit on in the town either slow down with progress or start to work backwards." He also cited the duties of the post having an impact on his family life. "Every meeting I attend of MHBC

or represent MHBC at a meeting I miss the important things in life - being able to bath my children, making their
dinner and putting my son to bed. "Family is an important part of
my life, and sadly all these things I am doing are getting in the way of this." He added that he receives 'little or
no appreciation' for his work to try and improve Milford Haven. "It is now time for me to hand over
chairmanship to someone who is able to move forwards in a more positive manner for the group." His last commitment will be the
Valentine's market on February 11. A new chairman must now be elected, or the group will be dissolved.

terrorised people in Pembroke Dock - including children - by waving around knives and threatening to kill.
Craig Heary, aged 38, held a knife
in each hand and frightened complete strangers. After his arrest, he was asked to
explain his actions but said he had already forgotten because of the drugs and alcohol he had taken. Heary, from Dundee, admitted
using threatening behaviour, possessing cocaine and possessing knives in a public place. James Hartson, prosecuting,
told Swansea Crown Court how, on November 12, Gavin Stinton saw
Heary near the Ferry Inn. He appeared to be angry and talking to himself but when Mr Stinton asked him if he was okay he produced two knives, one with a 12 inch blade, and told him to 'f**k off for your own good'. The next victims were Emma and Luke Phillips and their children. He ran towards them, still holding
the knives, and shouted at a five-year- old child: "What the fuck are you saying to me?" A short time later, Heary ran up to
Richard White, who was on his way fishing, and said he would 'hurt him, stab him, kill him'. At the time, he again held a knife in each hand. Mr Hartson said the police received several calls for help. As they
approached Heary, he ran onto a beach and threw away the knives before turning around and surrendering. The court heard he felt ashamed at
his behaviour, especially towards the child. Judge Paul Thomas told Heary his
bizarre behaviour had been extremely alarming. "This was a highly dangerous
situation brought on by a combination of drugs and alcohol. You were out of control," he added. Heary was jailed for 12 months,
suspended for 12 months. Heary was also ordered to carry out 240 hours of unpaid work for the community and to pay £435 in prosecution costs and a court surcharge.

Swansea Crown Court on Monday (Jan 23), accused of inciting boys to take part in the making of pornographic films. Steven Andrew Thomas, 35, of Upper Frog Street, attended a plea and
trial preparation hearing before Judge Paul Thomas, charged with seven offences. He denied two charges of causing
or inciting children to engage in sexual activity, and one of sexual activity involving the penetration of one of the
boys. Thomas also denied offering to
supply cocaine to each of the boys and of offering one of them cannabis. Thomas will face trial on May 22 and was granted bail meanwhile.
