The Guiding units here in Broadstone and Creekmoor were thrilled to recently accept a cheque for over £300 from the Broadstone Chamber of Trade and Commerce. The funds were raised from the money kindly donated at the Broadstone Christmas Parade. Wow, £300 means an awful lot of pennies were popped into the buckets we were carrying and certainly explain why my bucket was quite a weight at the end of the parade. On behalf of all the Guiding Groups may I say a big thank you!

This was my eighth year of being involved with the Parade through the Brownies. I love the way that the parade epitomises the best of our Broadstone Community – regardless of the weather.

So now the Guiding Units are busy planning how to utilise these funds across the Rainbow, Brownie, Guide and Senior Group operating in Broadstone and Creekmoor. The stipulation is that it should be something fun and chosen by the girls – always a creative discussion. Our members are all involved, even at the Rainbow stage, in planning our programme of activities and that way we know that they are certain to enjoy themselves. Cooking and Crafts are usually high on the wish list and of course, whatever is chosen, the leaders have to get involved too, that is when the fun truly begins!
