Volunteers Needed At Broadstone Youth Club
CALLING PARENTS OF CHILDREN AGE 10-14, GRANDPARENTS AND STUDENTS...
You may recall that we recently held an open evening at the Broadstone Youth Club, so parents can see what we offer young people and for those who might be interested in helping us to expand our provision.
I am excited to report that we had a good response and we are really close to being able to open our doors to additional year groups. We just need a couple more volunteers to join our existing team and with a fair wind we could see the club's hours extended after Easter.
Expanding means that, not only will we be providing a safe young person centred space, support and activities for over 200 children a week, but it will help to secure the long term future of the centre.
Our current volunteers are aged from 15 to 81, parents, grandparents, students and generally lovely people, who want to give something back. Our typical evening might include helping to run a pool competition, judging paper aeroplanes, supervising You-Tubers, devising our famous '8 o-clock challenge'
as well as taking the money, staffing the tuck shop/ coffee bar and being a friendly ear.
We are given DBS checks, safeguarding training and support and everyone has a lot of fun. We REALLY want to give more children the chance to be kids in their own dedicated centre and all it takes is two hours a week in term-time – or a fortnight if that's all you can spare. If your children attend youth club we can offer you a volunteer space on a different night from them if you don't want to cramp their style, or the same if it makes life easier, but if you have no children – attending or otherwise – we would love to have you on board too.
