Springdale School Is 50! September 7th 1966

saw the opening of Springdale School, so September 2016 was the beginning of a year of celebrations for our current children.

Celebrations began with a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the beginning of a year when we will be looking back over Springdale’s achievements over the last 50 years, as well as looking forward to a great future for our school.

A joint '50:50 Extra Mile' venture with Julia’s House was a great

opportunity for the children to

gain more awareness of the incredible work that this charity does and to raise funds for both Julia’s House and the school. All the children ran a mile, for which they were sponsored. The support from families and the local community was wonderful.

Corfe Hills Fundraisers

Corfe Hills School has raised £1,355 for Diverse

Abilities, Dorset’s disability charity.

Students voted to support the charity with their annual

Christmas fayres and non-uniform day.

The Christmas fayres were full of cakes, sweets, games and Christmas jumpers and there were even Christmas lights and a photo booth. They were organised and run by each year group separately as they competed to raise the most money. Hayley Collins, lead mentor for Year 11, said: “The staff and students are very proud to have contributed to Diverse Abilities and we look forward to working with them again soon!”

Nicole Warrilow, community fundraiser at Diverse Abilities, said: “We really appreciate the students support.”

'Fifty years and still shining!' was the theme of our entry in the Broadstone Christmas Parade – an event the children greatly enjoy participating in and a super opportunity to be part of community fun.

During the Spring Term, the children are learning more about life during the different decades of the last 50 years, as well as life at Springdale in those times and we would love to hear memories to bring learning to life for the children. If you, or anyone you know, was a past parent, pupil, staff member or governor at Springdale and has photos or memories to share, please contact our offi ce (01202 692700 or offi ce@springdale.poole.sch.uk).

On Friday 10th March, from 1.30-4.30pm, we will be holding a celebration of Springdale event. Anyone is welcome to come and look around the school, to see how children learn now and to share reminiscences and refreshments. We will then be looking forward to our Summer Fair on Friday 30th June, which we would welcome members of the community to come along to.
