Broadstone Neighbourhood Watch As we move into the Spring and the longer days, I


long to throw open the windows and get back into the garden. The shed is being used again, new plants being dug into the borders and the bikes seeing the light of day.


This great time of year brings new risks, so please remember not to leave tools unattended in the garden, ladders at the side of houses that could be used to access your home and to lock your garage and shed.


We are arranging a number of bike marking events – both for young people at Broadstone Youth Centre, and also for the wider community. Dates are being fi nalised, whilst we source the most appropriate marking kits – but they will be advertised through social media and our newsletter, so please look out for them. If you are not already a member (around 700 homes in Broadstone) get in touch and we can sign you up for the grand sum of £1 PER YEAR!


DO YOU LIVE IN FONTMELL ROAD OR SURROUNDING AREA?


We have a group of eight houses that need their monthly newsletter delivering. Our co-ordinator would drop this small batch of newsletters to you


each month for you to pass them on to neighbours. This would only take 15 minutes or so, just 12 times a year, so please do come forward. The only other responsibility would be to collect the £1 from each home on an annual basis.


You will have noticed that street lights around Broadstone have been upgraded over the last couple of years. As this happens, the committee have noticed Neighbourhood Watch signs going missing, and we are currently auditing their locations and ordering new ones. If you have noticed your NW street sign disappearing, let me know so we can get them replaced. Evidence shows that living in an area with an active Neighbourhood Watch group reduces the likelihood of being a victim of a crime like burglary or car break-ins, so it is in all our interest to have these on lamp posts and to display the signs in our windows or on our front doors.
