PHARMACIST OF THE YEAR
Helen Hirst
Boots Donegall Place, Belfast helen has held the position of senior pharmacist at Boots donegall Place for three years. A passionate and dedicated pharmacist, helen was recently recognised by her peers within Boots NI for her support for the meningitis B service. many found vaccinating young children in the pharmacy challenging, but helen stepped up to the challenge and led her pharmacy colleagues through the implementation period. As a result, all fourteen pharmacies are now actively providing the service.
Killian Johnston
H Sweeny Chemist, Derry/Londonderry Killian is extremely proactive in working with his local community. he has helped design and deliver a BcPP project in conjunction with the Bogside and Brandywell health forum entitled ‘life choices’, which educates teenagers about issues such as otc and illegal drug abuse and mental health. he has also provided both talks and health check events for the older people’s groups in the Bogside and Brandywell health forum. Proud of his profession, Killian goes the extra mile for his patients, ensuring their needs are met in or outside of normal working hours.
Paul Hughes
Hughes Pharmacy, Enniskillen Paul is a dedicated hard working and caring pharmacist, who is fully committed to improving the everyday health and well-being of his local communities through his pharmacies in Enniskillen and Newtownbutler. Paul has contributed to pharmacy at both a local level through initiatives such as setting up a health passport portfolio for the residents of the local psychiatric nursing home and on a national level by representing community pharmacy at various conferences and meetings in his role as community Pharmacy Northern Ireland board member from 2012-15.
Sarah Brimstone
Randalstown Pharmacies Ltd, Randalstown Sarah joined Randalstown Pharmacies ltd (RPl) in 2005 as a pre-registration student and is now Pharmacy manager. hardworking and diligent, Sarah has been constantly building on her mPharm degree through both practical experience and building a sound cPd portfolio. In 2013, in her role as Pharmacy manager, Sarah took the company through the Investors in People Accreditation and is currently upgrading this achievement for the new levels in 2017. In 2014, she completed an Advanced diploma in management Practice and was honoured with a distinction.
