YEARS REWARDING EXCELLENCE

PHARMACY HERO

t

here’s no doubt that pharmacists are increasingly being recognised as the ‘face of

primary care’. After all, you’re easily accessible and readily visible to your patients and customers on a day-to- day basis, and many of your patients see you as the first port of call when it comes to dealing with a minor healthcare issue. As such, you’re valued and trusted within your communities.

despite the fact, however, that you are simply doing what your profession requires of you, there’s no doubt that, from time to time, many of you do something that goes above and beyond the call of duty. Whether that is facilitating a new service for your patients or going that extra mile for someone is of no consequence; the simple fact is that many of you at one time or another have become a ‘healthcare hero’ to your patients.

Naturally at Pharmacy in focus, we’re more than aware of the fantastic

work that you all do, but we felt this year that it was time to put that recognition on a more public platform. And so, we have launched the inaugural Pharmacy hero Award.

over the last few months, we’ve asked colleagues from the industry and your peers for nominations for this award. Needless to say, we were both overwhelmed with nominations and staggered at the accounts of what many of you have done.

on reviewing the nominations, the judges commented that, ‘the recipient of this award is not only a hero to the people they help, but also to community pharmacy and an inspiration to their peers’.

Every pharmacist at some point is a hero in their own way and it was very difficult to choose a winner, but choose we did and, on 28 January, you will get to hear the name of the winner of the inaugural Pharmacy hero award!

“the recipient of this award is not only a hero to the people they help, but also to community pharmacy and an inspiration to their peers.”
