YEARS REWARDING EXCELLENCE

eHEALTH AND INNOVATION IN PHARMACY PRACTICE

Ballee Pharmacy

Ballymena Ballee Pharmacy was the first pharmacy in Northern Ireland to install its robot to automate the entire multiple dispensing process and its vision system, which photographs and records images of each patient, remains the first in the UK.

All patients now receive a roll of medication sachets in a dispenser box, meaning their medication is available in chronologically ordered sachets. the sachets are not only filled by the robot, but also photographed and verified by the vision system, as well as the pharmacist. the software also records all batch numbers and expiry dates to provide complete medicines traceability.

Murphy's Chemist

Derry/Londonderry Using state-of-the-art technology to complement the advances in medicine and health, Stephen and his team have a fully-automated coNSIS dispensing robot connected to five dispensing computer stations. the team also use scanners that scan and photocopy every script dispensed in the pharmacy. three internet phones are also installed in the dispensary, allowing staff to receive three calls simultaneously and reducing waiting times for customers, while high-speed broadband throughout the pharmacy allows the team to process online orders and faster.

Whitehouse Pharmacy

Derry/Londonderry last year, Sandra decided that she wanted to reach and educate patients outside of her local demographic and grow her customer base within the pharmacy. Sandra quickly realised the scope of facebook and its huge capability to engage the public, and so subsequently organised various facebook initiatives, such as No Smoking video, where staff explained about smoking cessation (847 views). With nearly 5000 likes to date, Sandra has also noticed an extensive increase in footfall into the pharmacy, resulting in more requests for advice, increased retail sales and prescription items.
