Hi All. Firstly let me wish you a very Happy New Year and here's hoping that 2017 will be a good one for us all. I'd like to start off this year featuring a well known performer who, apart from his continuing band work, is now, in addition embarking on a solo career. I'm referring to Gary Hutchinson who plays lead guitar and provides vocals for the very popular local band 'Del Fuegos'. I featured the band in this column several months ago. While 'Del Fuegos' are a busy working group, Gary recently decided to 'fill the gaps' in their work schedule and go out as a solo performer to entertain in some of the smaller venues, purely as a sideline to his band work. Gary grew up in West Yorkshire, where at the age of 15 he decided to learn to play the guitar, following in his father's footsteps as a musician. In a very short time Gary became involved with many local bands in Huddersfield. Over the next 15 years he played regularly on the music circuits of West Yorkshire, Sheffield, Manchester and surrounding areas, honing his skill on his instrument and gaining invaluable experience on the pub and club circuit. One of the bands Gary played in were called 'Bravado Cartel' who were finalists in the Battle of the Bands, and who have since signed a recording contract and have just completed a tour of the United States.

Huddersfield Town Hall and he couldn't resist playing a guitar solo, whilst standing on the Steinway piano. That didn't go down too well with the management - but the wedding party thoroughly enjoyed and wanted more! When Gary performs solo his set list will consist of classic songs from Steve Earl, Elvis, the Rolling Stones, the Clash and the Beatles. Also some Country songs by Kenny Rodgers, the Allman Brothers, right up to some modern artistes such as Bruno Mars, Jason Mraz, plus numbers one wouldn't expect to hear from a male vocalist.. Shania Twain etc. All with an original acoustic feel. It's fair to say that in the 2 years Gary has lived here in Spain he has become very well established here with his participation in 'Del Fuegos'. I'm sure his solo venture will be just as successful. He is a huge fan of acoustic music and for the past 5 years has been developing the art of fingerstyle playing on acoustic guitar. He will also be incorporating lively instrumentals of well known songs and covering some of the greatest hits across the decades, right up to present day. I'm looking forward to seeing Gary (Moore or less) performing. Check out the local press for up and coming shows.
