When CapitalSpace Milton Keynes Business Centre opened in 2008, it provided a unique range of 100 business premises specifically designed to assist people wishing to start or to grow their businesses. “Since then, many people have experimented - by far the majority have proved to be financially viable,” says CapitalSpace managing director Peter Boam. “A significant number of firms have expanded their business and have upgraded to larger space within the centre. They all have created employment and assisted in driving Milton Keynes forward as a place to do business. Our very first customer, Portfolio Management Estates, is still based here, demonstrating that the concept can
be suitable for the long term.” A key feature of CapitalSpace
offices, workshops and studios is the flexible monthly licences, enabling businesses to scale up or down when needed. One firm that has taken advantage of this flexibility is Wealth Dragons, which has expanded its office six times since opening in the Business Centre in 2009. “Flexibility in up- or down-sizing
and additional office space is great for us as a business,” says chief operating officer vincent Wong. “Location is also key, as is proximity to airports and central London links.”

DELOITTE, the business advisory firm, has been a part of the Milton Keynes business community for almost 30 years since it first opened its doors at Ashton House in September 1987. Reinforcing the firm’s commitment to the town in 2009 with a move to the Pinnacle in Midsummer Boulevard, Deloitte now has around 400 staff based there and more than 800 in the wider region including at its nearby offices in St Albans and Cambridge. Regional practice senior partner Paul Schofield said: “Our client base in and around Milton Keynes is one of the most successful and fast growing in the South East. The firm also contributes to the wider community and was delighted that, this year, it was awarded Employer of the Year by Milton Keynes Academy. This was in recognition of the strong relationship that has been built between the two parties over the last five years. Nigel Webber said: “Our partnership with the Academy has truly been one of mutual benefit, with our people getting so much out of working on student development projects and students taking up apprenticeships with us.” Paul Schofield added: “We have long been part of the development of the town and business community and are pleased to add to the recognition of Milton Keynes’ fantastic first 50 years.”
