Why we’re so happy to be part of the Milton Keynes community

MILTON Keynes is rightly proud of how it has grown and developed since its birth in 1967. It is a place that happily celebrates its individuality and its unique place in history. At Volkswagen Group UK, we also feel we do things a little bit differently. One of the phrases used around our offices in Blakelands and at our National Learning Centre in Wymbush is ‘Different is our Difference’. We are proud of our people and the teams that make up our diverse workforce in Milton Keynes - and we are also proud of how we have become part of the Milton Keynes community since our headquarters in Yeomans Drive was opened in 1978. We currently have around 1,000 people

working in Milton Keynes, looking after the sales and marketing for five brands; Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Audi, ŠKODA, SEAT and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. In 2015, we celebrated the milestone of selling more than 500,000 cars across the five brands in a single year. We are a big player in the automotive industry but we are also a significant part of life in Milton Keynes. As one of the biggest employers in the city,

we are proud to be able to offer a huge variety of job roles across the group. These can range from working with factories to co-ordinate the supply of vehicles to planning marketing campaigns for our products. Much of our strategic planning is done

centrally, in particular our focus on customer quality, the development of our retail networks and our parts sales. We have finance, legal, IT and human resources functions all working with our brands to achieve their goals.

We’re an award-winning employer.

In 2015, we were 12th in the UK’s Great Place to Work survey, a direct result of our commitment to building a challenging and rewarding place for our people to work. We have also been awarded Top Employer status by the Top Employers Institute for our commitment to developing talent and offering a first-class working environment. Our recruitment of undergraduates and graduates is industry-leading. We have been named a Top 100 Undergraduate Employer by online organisation RateMyPlacement and voted the UK’s sixth best graduate employer by TheJobCrowd.

When it comes to supporting local causes,

we are right up there too. We have raised thousands for a range of local charities and this is a part of who we are. We have a democratically nominated charity each year and an enthusiastic charity committee which promotes a range of vibrant activities. With the assistance of our volunteering leave, our employees raise thousands for causes such as Willen Hospice, our nominated charity for the past two years. For the past 28 years, we have donated a car

for the Milton Keynes Community Foundation charity raffle, raising more than £1 million since the partnership started. MKCF is one of the longest-standing beneficiaries of our giving. On our behalf it manages and distributes an annual fund with the aim of supporting vulnerable members of the Milton Keynes community. Volkswagen Group UK is proud to be part of Milton Keynes; its past, its present and its future. Happy 50th birthday to you.
