Securing our future as we celebrate 70 years


CAWLEYS is a third-generation family business and in 2017 we will celebrate 70 years in the waste management industry. Cawleys was established in 1947


by Reg and Frank Cawley and throughout the 1950s and 1960s the principal business was road building. The company was a major supplier of materials for the construction of the M1. During the 1970s the waste disposal side of the business flourished. As with all industries, new technology has resulted in advancements in waste management and during his time as managing director Jon Cawley has helped to pioneer a shift from traditional waste disposal to resource management. Cawleys has never owned or managed a landfill site, preferring instead to invest in waste recovery and reprocessing technology. In 2008 Cawleys pioneered the use of anaerobic digestion for commercial food and in 2009 opened a state-of-the-art materials recycling facility. The business is committed to the application of technology to provide resource


management solutions. Now a third generation family business, Jon’s daughters play an integral role in the current direction of the company. With its innovative food waste recycling, award-winning environmental change management programmes through its national environmental consultancy arm Veris Strategies and a portfolio of specialist services including specialist waste division Cawleys Hazardous Services, Cawleys is now a strong, diverse resource management organisation. To celebrate our 70th


anniversary, there will be a number of liveried ‘Platinum’ vehicles visiting our customers, community fundraising activities, an Open Day at Cawleys’ materials recycling facility, celebratory staff events and a black tie celebration dinner.
