An ode to Milton Keynes

After 50 years in the making what can we say? These are just some things we admire of MK:

From beginnings of logic, roads laid out on a grid, You played your part in a World Cup winning bid.

You’re a nurturing hub with an entrepreneurial spirit, Trading all over the world; wherever is the limit?

There’s a strong sense of community and helping each other, Milton Keynes is a family, our sister, our brother.

It’s people inspiring, no matter how old, MBEs, OBEs and even Olympic gold!

Over the next 50 years what will you achieve? Driverless cars, F1 championships, whatever we believe...

‘A privilege to oversee our growth’

While we only joined Milton Keynes in 1998, we are very proud to be part of such a successful and diverse business community. With so much going on in Milton Keynes

we have only begun to scratch the surface of fully integrating ourselves: supporters of the Milton Keynes Marathon, Midsummer Breakfast Club, the extra Mile Challenge, Milton Keynes Community Foundation, has MK Business Got Talent, and the Ride high Ball, to name just some.

it is fitting that at the same time as Milton

Keynes celebrates 50 years, and looks to the next exciting 50 years, we are also celebrating the career of Terry Saunders. Terry has been Office Managing Partner

since we opened in Milton Keynes. At the end of a distinguished career, Terry is passing the baton on to Adam King, who has lived in Milton Keynes his entire life, and joined the firm after graduating from university. in fact he was the office’s very first graduate recruit. Terry Saunders said: “in 1997, i put forward the business case to open a new office in Milton Keynes. it was the obvious place to be; high growth, enormous future potential, great geographical location and transport links and, importantly, a definite passion among the local business community to succeed. in all, it was clearly a great environment in which our business would thrive. “i was fortunate to be joined on the ground

by some distinguished senior partners, demonstrating from day one our commitment to invest in the growing local economy. Partners who shared that passion for Milton Keynes. it has been a privilege to have overseen the growth of our office from the original five to the current compliment of 160 partners and staff, to have provided career opportunities and played a part in the

prosperity of the local business community. “We have been welcomed by so many organisations and people that i will never be able to thank them all. i look forward to seeing the Milton Keynes 50th celebrations from the perspective of an on-looker, and will continue to fly the flag for many years to come.”

Adam King said: “Being here, and spending the majority of my life learning and working in Milton Keynes, it is a great honour for me to take on the mantle from Terry. “Milton Keynes has got a fantastic future ahead of it, and i am excited to continue to support the businesses and organisations that give Milton Keynes such a fantastic reputation locally, nationally and internationally. “i am fortunate to take over the reins of RSM at such an exciting time, having gone through a national merger and international rebrand. i know that our Milton Keynes office will continue to play an important part in our firm’s growth as well as that of the local

economy.” n RSM is a leading audit, tax and consultancy firm specialising in the middle market.
