Going Out - Page 39 CHUMS and HELP joint Christmas Party.
Last month CHUMS (friends of charity) held a Christmas Party at the Peppermill in Benidorm and they invited HELP International, Benidorm to join in the fun.
Everyone had a superb meal and were entertained afterwards by ZODIAC. There was dancing and even some carols which they all enjoyed singing along to. I think it safe to say a good time was had by all. If anyone would like further information about either group please ring Marilyn on 96 586 4394.
Crescendo Angels?
As always, Crescendo International Choir’s Christmas concert went with a swing. Lots of audience participation with the traditional Carols and Christmas songs. Mary Priddle introduced the items in her usual
#
way, adding a few personal remembrances of being a Cornish fisherman’s wife when Doug Brown sang “Cornish cream and cider”.
Jack Van Dam’s voice filled the hall with his version of “The Holy City” and John Cloney sang an unaccompanied song, “Fa, la la la”. All three solos were greeted with huge applause. Comedy was provided by Mary Mitchell and Mary Sills singing (or rather, miaowing), the cats duet by Rossini. Mary and Margot appeared as 7 year old ‘angels’ to tell everyone about their school Nativity play with references to various choir members as their school mates. (Itchy knickers and bogey pickers included!)
The money raised will enable the choir to carry on giving money to many charities around the Torrevieja and Vega Baja area.
Although we now have an impressive 16 men in the choir, we would still like some more please! Check our website for choir news and photos:

Javea School of Bridge and Social Club helping ASPADIS
The Jávea School of Bridge and Social Club (JSBSC) has been at it again – raising money for charity that is!
Recently they held a Saturday Bridge tournament for the charity ASPADIS, in their Clubhouse on Avenida Tamarits, Arenal. ASPADIS
is a non-profit-making charity, founded in 1980, dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of children and young people with profound disabilities, aiming to achieve their maximum physical, psychological and social development within their main limitations. Some sixty JSBSC Members, including a few guests from other local bridge clubs, turned up to help raise money via table money takings, a tombola, an auction and a grand prize draw. A fantastic total of 2401.06€ was raised for this charity. Maria Teresa Silva again did a brilliant job arranging all the prizes for the grand draw, and Meg Taylor’s 2 festive cakes raised over 65€ in the auction. Lots of members ‘did their bit’, so thank you to all of them, and the others who turned up to make the event such a success.
