Your Community Magazine An Evening With Andrew Lloyd Webber
After such a successful musical year last year it’s time to turn your attention to one of the musical highlights of 2017 ... AN EVENING WITH ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER which takes place on Saturday 28th January in the Orihuela Costa Resort at La Zenia. The twice-yearly concerts mounted by Melody Makers International have provided the area with high quality performances for seven years running now, and these have enabled us to raise many thousands of Euros for charities locally whilst giving great satisfaction to the music-going public.
This means you will hear many fabulous songs from such musicals as Phantom of the Opera, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Aspects of Love, Cats, Starlight Express, Sunset Boulevard, Whistle Down the Wind, Jeeves and Song and Dance. You will also hear the famous Pie Jesu from his Requiem, sung by two of the leading singers on the whole Costa, Verity Hall and Rebecca Holt, as well as the songs he wrote for both the Barcelona Olympics and Eurovision Song Contest.
All in all this will be a veritable feast of choral and solo music, accompanied by a professional band from the UK, and all conducted and directed by Nigel Hopkins.
Tickets are available from La Ponderosa Gift Shop on La Zenia island and at the Card Place at both Punta Prima and Benimar. Melody Makers International are proud to announce that these concerts will support the local charity, Reach Out.
Come and sing with Denia Rock Choir! We meet on Thursdays 6pm - 7.30 pm in the Salon Social of the Hostal Loreto, Calle Loreto, Denia. 3€ per session. There is easy parking at the end of the castle tunnel.
Denia Rock Choir
For many members it’s an oasis in the middle of an otherwise busy week and a great way to make new friends. The choir is lead by the vibrant, professional director Jan Dewland and no music reading skills are necessary. We had our first performance at the Help charity event last April which was a great success and resulted in an
additional donation to the charity by the choir. We’ll keep you informed about future performances. We also look forward to celebrating our 2nd Anniversary at the end of January!
