NCT is the big winner at the Route One Awards
Nottingham City Transport (NCT) has been crowned Large Operator of the Year at the annual Route One Excellence Awards in Birmingham. The Route One Excellence
Awards, now in its 12th year, recognises ‘Operator Excellence’ and is widely regarded as the number one event in the coach and bus industry calendar. Finalists are shortlisted by their industry peers,
making these awards extra special for both finalists and winners. The Large Operator of the Year
category is open to bus companies with over 150 vehicles. NCT was up against strong competition within the industry, with Arriva Merseyside, National Express West Midlands, Plymouth Citybus and Reading Buses all vying for the coveted prize.
Mark Fowles, Managing Director
at NCT, said: “NCT has the highest bus operator customer satisfaction score in the UK at 97% and Nottingham has the second highest bus use per head of population in the country. “This is testament to the fact that
both NCT and the city invest heavily in public transport and we continually strive to improve the network.”
Outstanding contribution recognised
Smith Cooper Business Recovery and Insolvency (BR&I) Team attended the prestigious TRI Awards Ceremony in London on 19 October. The team was a finalist for two awards – Insolvency Manager of the Year and the coveted Insolvency Team of the Year – in recognition of its outstanding contribution in this field. The awards bring together many national and
international firms, alongside companies that have been involved in high profile cases. For the Insolvency Team of the Year Award, Smith Cooper was the only Midlands-based firm selected as a finalist. Director in the Birmingham office, Richard Tonks (pictured), was pitched
against a national firm and a national charity in the category for the Insolvency Manager of the Year. Dean Nelson, Head of Business Recovery and
Insolvency at Smith Cooper, said: “We were delighted to be named finalists in two prestigious categories, especially as we are the only Midlands-based firm to have made the cut. While we did not come away with an award on the night, we have had a hugely successful year and I am very proud of the whole team for their efforts over the past 12 months. Without their dedication and hard work we would not have made the final grade. We hope to build on this success over the next year.”
