Andrew Hall has been appointed Babington’s new Non-Executive Chairman


Andrew joins Babington


Babington Group, one of the UK’s leading providers of apprenticeships and skills training, has announced the appointment of Andrew Hall as Non-Executive Chairman, effective immediately. Andrew is highly experienced in the education


sector, having held senior positions at leading education bodies. He has significant leadership experience in the private sector, having previously spent more than 14 years as Chief Executive of a listed company. Since 2010, Andrew has been Chief Executive of


AQA, the leading provider of academic qualifications in the UK including A-levels and GCSEs. During a period of significant regulatory change, he has grown AQA organically through a focus on customer service and product design and through acquisition. During the same period, Andrew has also been a non-executive Director and Chairman - on a rotating basis - at JCQ, a representative body for the seven leading academic qualification awarding bodies in the UK.


Previously, Andrew was Chief Executive (2008-10)


and Director of Strategic Resource Management (2006- 8) at the QCA, a non-departmental Government body with responsibility for evolving the curriculum, assessments and qualifications in England. Prior to this, Andrew held a variety of senior management roles in publicly-listed companies, including 14 years as Chief Executive of Eliza Tinsley Group, an engineering group with global operations, and at a subsidiary of the engineering group, Elswick, from 1987 to 1994. Based in Derby, Babington provides apprenticeships


and skills training to learners and employers across the UK and is supported by ten training centres. Carole Carson, Chief Executive of Babington, said: “I

The Derbyshire Network has announced that Michelle Hill has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer. She succeeds Steve


Meadows following his decision to retire earlier this year. Michelle joins the Network


from Manchester College. She said: “I am really


excited at the opportunity to lead the Network through a time where the whole FE and the apprenticeships offer is undergoing such a transformation in terms of the Levy, employer co-investment and the new register. I believe we are in a strong position to guide our members, employers and learners and I’m looking forward to meeting our subcontractors and members as we move forward with our plans.”
